Feedback from some of our Clients

‘We used Flexible Films to produce a number of films as a form of communication with residents, and staff. Sybil and Russell were fantastic, working with us on content and contributing their own style to the presentation of information, which really helped residents and staff understand issues better. As we had little experience in making films their assistance and suggestions made the process practically pain free.’

After discussing with them the film’s specifications and what the project wanted to get across, they came up with some innovative and imaginative ideas. They were also very professional, reliable, put the trainees at ease before any filming took place and kept us abreast on the film’s development. The DVD was produced to the deadline given which gave us the opportunity to show it in the OPEN DAYS event in Brussels.

"Every project that Sybil and Russ have worked on with us has been a great success. They really understand their clients and audience giving not just a professional film making service but one that is delivered with imagination and flair. We are pleased to be associated with Flexible Films and proud to be able to boast that Newham has this calibre of business working and growing in the Borough.

“Flexible Films always gave a very clear timetable for the work and stuck firmly to this. Deadlines were always met. One of the highlights of working with Flexible Films was the very clear ethos they had about working alongside the subjects of the film. Communication was clear throughout the process of working with Flexible Films, this is both between them and ourselves as commissioners and between them and the participants”

“Contact was maintained via email and telephone calls throughout the process. All queries were responded to quickly and clearly. Overall the project was managed professionally and efficiently at all times. The filmmakers were clearly passionate about making the film and about making the voices of those in the film heard to the best possible effect. Working with them has been an easy and enjoyable process. We would not hesitate to use them again if the opportunity arose.”

“Staff from the Opportunities Team have enjoyed working in partnership with Flexible Films and thank them for their professionalism, ability to respond to changing needs/requests and their sensitive approach to working with the Team and members of the Film School. Inspirational FilmWorks achieved the Oxleas Recognition Awards for Best Practice in 2005, were runners-up in the Health and Social Care Awards in 2005.”

‘What we wanted was a service that allowed users to express what it’s like living with this illness. We knew the process would be as important as the end product. Getting people together in a group, getting them to take responsibility, and engage in a daily routine, is part and parcel of the film group. On a weekly basis I have seen a difference. People are more confident, they have more self- esteem and more camaraderie. This has shown us that there is a different way of doing things.’

Attending the course run by Flexible Films changed my life around. Sybil & Russ engaged everyone within the group, at all the different levels, and made it into a course we all learnt at a level appropriate to each of us. It was quite frankly amazing. They didn’t just teach me how to direct documentaries, they taught me life skills. Sybil & Russ have extraordinary patience, when they teach, they also have fantastic senses of humour, which makes it easy to learn from them and work with them. They are both impressive teachers, and from doing their courses, I’ve gone onto get a LOCN in video editing and have written and co-directed a short drama.

We found it very easy to work with Flexible films and would do so again; they understood what we wanted and were committed to helping us achieve it but were also able to give us some guidance as to what would look best on film. The finished film is of a high standard and is the end product of a real collaboration between the filmmakers and the participants / contributors. The process was completed on time and to budget and has been very well received when shown.

Flexible Films initially produced a video and DVD called Moving Back, and then a further film called ‘This is How We Do It’. Both films were explaining to the community how the process of regeneration worked, and the parties involved. I was one of many interviewees/subjects – and found that Flexible Films were very easy to work with, in that they explained how they would film and had prepared the script to ensure all aspects of the topic were covered. We shot both in an office and out on location. The film-makers were both proficient and user-friendly; and the whole experience was enjoyable with the resulting films being very watchable. There was an understanding of the topic, and the audience, which meant the films successfully reached their target.
