Case Studies

We enjoy being challenged and begin each new project with fresh eyes and enthusiasm. Our vast experience and excellent communication skills ensure that each project, no matter how small, is of a technically high professional standard and delivers the essential key messages.

Our flexible, ethically aware and open approach ensures we listen to our client’s remit and respond to their individual needs. For us, it is essential that all those taking part enjoy and are empowered during the filmmaking process.

Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust and the Pacesetters Programme
  • Worked with the Royal Free hospital on two long-term film projects highlighting difficulties people with learning difficulties and Travellers have accessing services
  • Each project produced a number of films for staff training and information for patients
  • The films are used nationally in a variety of hospital and community settings
Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust
Time to Change – a national anti-stigma campaign
  • Worked with Time to Change on five projects
  • Produced fifteen short films for their ‘Open Up’ web learning resource illustrating work produced by 32 Initiatives
  • Filmed the Time to Change conference in Birmingham and edited four films
  • Edited two films highlighting the Time to Change three-year campaign to take to Parliament and funding bodies
  • Edited four films for the Football Association to illustrate good working practice in football and mental health
  • Produced six training films to show volunteers how to approach the public. The training films were scripted and some of the acting used green screen to illustrate street backgrounds

United Response
  • Worked with United Response on three projects
  • Produced their Health & Safety videos which consisted of three chapters and involved filming in London and Bognor Regis
  • Produced ‘Access to Volunteering’, a film about how volunteering can benefit people with severe learning difficulties. Locations for filming were Derby, Manchester and Liverpool
  • Filmed a one-day conference for people with learning difficulties and edited two films – one for funders and one for people United Response support

  • Worked with this Swiss education publisher on two long-term projects
  • Worked alongside two authors who produced workbooks to accompany films produced
  • Filmed in London, Wales, Ireland and Switzerland - Produced a series of twenty films (total duration - two hours)
  • The two film projects involved interviewing school children, filming school and home activities, scripting and filming presenters and directing and filming a two day drama activity
  • The films and workbooks are used in Swiss schools to teach English

INVOLVE
  • Worked with INVOLVE, an NHS research organisation on two projects
  • Produced one fifteen-minute film and four case study films to highlight the importance of user-controlled research
  • All five films had versions with subtitles and British Sign Language interpreter
  • Filming locations included Bradford, Durham, Clacton-on-Sea and Leeds
  • Worked on another project to produce talking heads PowerPoint and web clips and a further two case study films

  • Worked with Fordham on three projects
  • Each project resulted in a promotional film for their website and promotional usage
  • Filmed interviews with staff and pupils as well as dance, stage combat and acting classes

University of Kent
  • Produced a 20-minute film and four case study films for Kent University’s social work course
  • Worked with children in care, people with learning difficulties, carers and individuals in a sensitive way allowing them to tell their personal stories of how social services had helped and sometimes hindered their development
  • All subjects were involved in the editing process
  • The films are used to educate people learning about social care

  • Spent a day filming activities at the studio and café
  • Edited footage into a 3- minute web film
  • The project was completed in 14 days

Sam Warner – Psychologist
  • Worked with Sam Warner on three projects
  • Produced a 20-minute documentary featuring four survivors of child sexual abuse
  • Scripted, filmed and directed a ten minute fiction illustrating the ‘grooming process’
  • Filmed and edited Sam Warner presenting her theories to camera

London Borough of Newham Regeneration Department
  • Worked with the London Borough of Newham on eleven projects
  • Films covered a variety of subjects including construction training, creative industries, housing and Public Protection
  • We have won two Newham film awards
Newham
CanDo Films
  • Taught a group of 25 mental health service users how to use professional camera equipment, make edit decisions, work as a team and direct
  • Facilitated and supported them in producing 10 films, 4 were broadcast on the Community channel
  • We plan to form a social enterprise with the group and another production company, Barrage Media
  • The social enterprise will deliver our model of practice to other community groups

  • Produced three films for the organization:
  • 17-minute corporate film to illustrate their work
  • 12-minute film to explain the Individual Budget
  • 12-minute film to support a service user proposal
  • All three films were completed over a 3 month period
