Training and Education

Films are very useful as training tools as they trigger and promote discussions, explore issues, stimulate emotions and are easily remembered. We have been making educational films for a number of years. As Russell Hall is a qualified Media Studies teacher, he appreciates the content needed for effective learning.

We have worked on a number of educational film projects. One current project is with Sam Warner (a Manchester based psychologist) and Manchester Survivors Group History Project to produce 3 films to accompany a 3-day training programme for social workers. We have completed 2 of the films and once Sam is back from maternity leave, will complete the final film.

We are also working with Values Into Action to produce a fiction piece about the Incapacity Act. The film will be scripted in a series of workshops and the actors will be people with learning difficulties. The aim of the film is twofold – it will be used to campaign for the rights of people with learning difficulties and to educate workers on how best to work with this group.

Another project we are involved in is producing a 30-minute film to accompany an English language manual for Swiss students. The film will feature 2 schools in Wales and England focusing on the multicultural lifestyles of some of their pupils.

Other educational projects include films on Carers, the transition from Primary to Secondary school, raising awareness on mental health issues, strategies on stopping smoking etc.
