DocumentariesWe have produced a number of different style documentaries ranging from light- hearted subjects such as following an England football fan during the World Cup to more challenging topics such as surviving child sexual abuse. Our academic background is in documentary film-making. We enjoy working with people and exploring other lives and lifestyles is a real fascination for us. We feel privileged to work in this field as the documentary genre allows us to enter different worlds. We are always sensitive in our approach, both in the filming and the storytelling aspect of documentary film-making. We prepare subjects for filming by spending time with them, explaining the process and answering questions before introducing the camera. We film creatively because for a film to be successful, it needs to capture the imagination of the viewer. We are very thorough when editing and take time familiarising ourselves with the footage and writing a paper edit before beginning the physical edit. It is extremely important to tell the story as succinctly as possible so discussing the sequences, themes and narrative in detail allows us to focus in and get the most out of the footage. Spizz Diaries was produced for the Channel Four Fourdocs website during the World Cup 2006. We filmed and uploaded 5 films in 1 month. The series was reviewed as 'amongst the best' by The Guardian newspaper. We have also filmed abroad and when in India produced 2 films - South Indian Tales which features 4 local people talking about their lives and their beliefs and Going Back to Meerut which follows the main subject in search of his family history.
